Report: Conte keen on signing £25.8m midfielder – Could offer Lo Celso or Sanchez

Antonio Conte is keen to sign Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu for Tottenham and could offer one of Davinson Sanchez or Giovani Lo Celso in a deal, according to CalcioMercatoWeb.

Calhanoglu produced a strong season in his first campaign with Inter but could not power the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title.

The Turkey international contributed to 21 goals in all competitions – notching eight goals and 13 assists (Transfermarkt) – as his former side in rivals AC Milan clinched silverware.

Calhanoglu’s move to Inter Milan came just after Conte left the club, following his Serie A title win with the Italian club in 2020/21.

And Conte is now said to be keen on making a move to sign Calhanoglu for Tottenham. CalcioMercatoWeb report the 28-year-old is valued at upwards of €30 million (£25.8m), while Spurs could offer Inter one of Sanchez or Lo Celso to seal a deal.

It is explained that Colombia international defender Sanchez could tempt Inter this summer, who are braced for the exit of Milan Skriniar and the potential departure of Stefan de Vrij.

Spurs Web Opinion

Calhanoglu had a good campaign in his first season at Inter but it came in pretty unfortunate circumstances as he just missed out on the Serie A title to his former club, AC Milan.

Spurs do need some creativity in midfield and offering someone like Lo Celso, who is unlikely to play a big role next season, may be worth considering.
