Report: Conte target prefers to remain at Inter Milan over Spurs transfer

CalcioMercato have revealed that Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella wants to remain at the Serie A club despite being wanted by Tottenham.

Over recent years, Barella has not only emerged as one of the best midfielders in Serie A but also as a key pillar of the Italian national side.

The 25-year-old has had an outstanding start to the 2022-23 season, having already notched up 10 goal contributions across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

Diretta Goal reported during the summer transfer window that Antonio Conte wanted to bring Barella to Spurs but Corriere dello Sport subsequently revealed that Inter rebuffed the North London club’s attempts to sign the player.

CalcioMercato have now stated that Conte remains intent on reuniting with the midfielder, who is also said to be attracting interest from some of Europe’s other big hitters.

However, the report explains that the player intends to remain at the San Siro and win more trophies with the Nerazzurri.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Barella becomes available, a whole host of top clubs across Europe will be queuing up to sign him. However, the 25-year-old is contracted to Inter until 2026 and I do not think the Serie A club would sell him as they have other more expendable players if they do wish to balance their books.
