Report: Conte thinks Spurs youngster could become one of the best in football

Antonio Conte believes that Oliver Skipp could become one of the top midfielders in the game, which is why he desperately wants him back from injury, according to Football London.

The midfielder, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Norwich City last season in the Championship, has ‘quickly become a firm favourite’ of Conte’s.

The 21-year-old academy graduate has missed the last seven matches for Spurs, with the Lilywhites struggling for consistency without him in the engine room (TransferMarkt).

Skipp was one of the few players who consistently impressed under Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of the season and has continued that form into Conte’s reign. The youngster has already played 28 matches this campaign under both managers combined (TransferMarkt).

Conte seemingly called out his medical team this week for an apparent lack of communication surrounding Skipp’s injury, as the midfielder continues to struggle with a groin problem (Guardian).

Spurs Web Opinion:

Skipp has all the attributes to thrive in the Premier League. It’s now about staying fit and getting the minutes on the pitch to keep improving. I don’t want to speak too soon, but I expect an England call-up in the not-so-distant future,
