Report: Conte wants 28-year-old at Spurs, believes he is a good fit for his system

Italian publication La Repubblica have revealed (as relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi) that Antonio Conte wants to bring Lazio right-back Manuel Lazzari to Tottenham Hotspur.

Lazzari has been a consistent performer for Lazio since arriving from SPAL in the summer of 2019.

However, La Repubblica claim that Maurizio Sarri does not believe the 28-year-old is a natural fit for his system at Lazio.

The Italy international is thus considered to be ‘expendable’ by the Serie A club ahead of the January transfer window.

The report reveals that Inter Milan showed interest in Lazzari during the summer window that the Nerrazuri have now been joined in the race for the defender by three other clubs.

Bologna and Torino are also said to have expressed interest in the right-back along with Spurs.

It is asserted that Conte views Lazzari as being a good fit for a 3-5-2 system at Tottenham.

In other news, Spurs have also been credited with an interest in Norwich City right-back Max Aarons.

Right-wing-back is one area that we need to upgrade on. As well as Emerson has played under Conte, I see the Brazilian as more of a right-back in a back four than a wing-back.

It does not appear as if Conte trusts Doherty and so we need a new addition to offer Emerson some competition for his place in the starting eleven.
