Report: Conte wants Bastoni and Spurs could offer player in part-exchange

Calcio Mercato have reported that Antonio Conte remains keen on Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan, a player he won the Serie A title with during recent stint in Italy.

The report claims that Tottenham may now be willing to offer Emerson Royal in part exchange for the Italian central defender, with the Brazilian having been displaced as first-choice by Matt Doherty in recent weeks.

While Spurs are backed to make a cash-plus-player offer, CalcioMercato believe it is unlikely that Inter Milan would accept such a deal.

Tottenham have struggled in the centre of defence this season, with Eric Dier’s form falling away, Cristian Romero struggling with injuries, and Clement Lenglet set to return to Barcelona at the end of his loan spell.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas recently revealed on the Last Word on Spurs’ YouTube channel that both Gvardiol and Bastoni remain top targets for Spurs this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Bastoni is seemingly Tottenham’s top summer centre-back target, and also one of the more realistic ones. The problem with Emerson Royal is that Spurs ideally need him gone now, whereas they won’t sign a central defender until the summer.
