Report: Conte wants Spurs to sign wing-back – Club want £43.5m fee

Calciomercato.it have claimed that Inter Milan want €50m (£43.5m) for Tottenham target Denzel Dumfries in the summer.

CMW were the first to report last week that Dumfries, who has excelled since his move to Inter 15 months ago, was on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

The report explained that Inter valued the Netherlands international at £35m but Spurs could look to bring that fee down to £20m by offering Emerson Royal to the Nerazzurri as part of the deal.

The same publication subsequently claimed a couple of days ago that Tottenham could face competition from Chelsea for the right-back, with the Blues said to be willing to offer Mateo Kovacic to Inter in a straight swap deal.

Calciomercato.it have now backed up Tottenham’s interest in Dumfries, explaining that Conte desires an upgrade on Emerson Royal at right wing-back as the Italian is not getting the ‘desired answers’ from him.

It is alleged that the 53-year-old wants Spurs to raid his former club for Dumfries in January but the report asserts that Simone Inzaghi’s men value the former PSV Eindhoven man at €50m (£43.5m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Swap deals rarely ever go through and I am not convinced that Inter would want Emerson because like Spurs, the Serie A club play with a back three and wing-backs.

It would be difficult for the North London club to find a buyer for the Brazilian in January and I do not expect the Lilywhites to sign a right wing-back until next summer.
