Report: Conte wants to sign a midfielder built in the mould of Chelsea star

According to The Evening Standard, Antonio Conte wants to bring a midfielder in the mould of Chelsea’s Jorginho to Tottenham this summer.

January signing Rodrigo Bentancur has formed an impressive partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle of the park over the last couple of months in the absence of Oliver Skipp.

However, it has previously been reported that Conte wants to bring in two new midfielders during this summer’s transfer window (Telegraph).

Spurs have been linked with a whole host of Premier League stars recently including the likes of Wolves’ Ruben Neves (90 min,) Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans (GiveMeSport) and West Ham United’s Tomas Soucek (Express).

The Evening Standard have now backed up the claim regarding Conte’s intentions to rejig his options in midfield.

It is explained that Harry Winks, who has struggled to get starts under the Italian, will be allowed to leave the North London club this summer.

Conte has allegedly informed the club of his desire to replace the England international with a player of Jorginho’s mould.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is understandable why Conte would want a player who is technically proficient on the ball like Jorginho as that would allow us to retain possession better.

Of the players we have been linked with so far, Neves is arguably the one who is most like the Chelsea star. Whoever it is we replace Winks with, I am looking forward to watching a partnership of Skipp and Bentancur next season.
