Report: Conte wants young centre-back at Spurs but club not keen on selling

Ecuadorian publication Bolavip have revealed that Antonio Conte has taken ‘notice’ of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie this season but the Bundesliga club are not keen on selling the defender.

Hincapie has had an impressive start to life in European football after moving to Leverkusen from South America last summer.

Football Insider reported earlier this week that the 20-year-old was on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

This has now been backed up by Bolavip, who claim that Conte has liked what he has seen from Hincapie at Leverkusen this season.

However, the report reveals that Tottenham are not the only club on the centre-back’s trail, with AC Milan, Zenit, Sevilla, AS Roma and Napoli also holding an interest in the player.

It is also explained that there have been no concrete offers for Hincapie despite the interest he is generating and that Gerardo Seoane’s side do not plan on cashing in on the young defender as things stand.

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte certainly made it clear this week (Sky Sport Italia) that Spurs need to sign experienced players in order to close the gap with the best sides in the Premier League.

That is especially true when it comes to central defence as younger players are more prone to errors. So, Conte will likely prefer experienced campaigners like Romagnoli over the likes of Hincapie.
