Report: Conte will make decision on Tanganga in pre-season – Interest from Serie A

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Antonio Conte is set to make a decision on Japhet Tanganga’s future after taking another close look at the Spurs defender during pre-season.

Injury problems have prevented Tanganga from getting as much game time as he would have wanted since making his senior debut for the club two and half years ago.

The centre-back missed the final few months of the 2021/22 campaign with a knee problem (Transfermarkt).

Gold has now revealed that the defender is expected to return to Hotspur Way earlier than the rest of the Spurs squad, alongside Oliver Skipp and Matt Doherty, as the trio play catch-up following their season-ending injuries.

He explained that Tanganga will be given plenty of game time across the pre-season friendlies next month before Conte makes a decision on what comes next for the young defender.

The journalist added that the Spurs academy graduate has a few admirers in the Serie A, who are interested in either a loan or a permanent deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Tanganga’s attributes are perfectly suited to playing as a centre-back in a back three. The 23-year-old could prove to be a very competent backup for Cristian Romero in the right centre-back role. I would not be surprised if Conte decides to move Davinson Sanchez on and hold on to Tanganga this summer.
