Report: Conte would like to bring Italian international midfielder to Spurs

The Daily Mail have claimed that Antonio Conte would like to bring Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella to Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Since Spurs confirmed Conte as their new head coach on Tuesday, there have been various reports doing the rounds on the various players the North London club could target when the transfer window reopens in January.

There have even been suggestions that the Italian could be handed a whopping £150m war chest.

However, this has been contradicted by The Telegraph, who have said that while Conte will be handed some money to spend, the Lilywhites are still expected to raise cash through player sales.

The report added that Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie are two players Spurs could look to bring in.

The Mail have now backed up The Telegraph’s report by suggesting that although the new Spurs boss will be handed funds, talk of a huge pot of money is ‘certainly exaggerated’.

The report also named Vlahovic as a target and went on to suggest that Conte wants Spurs to raid his former club for Barella.

The 24-year-old Italian international was alleged to be on Fabio Paratici’s radar during the summer transfer window as well.

Barella would be a magnificent signing if we can pull it off. However, it will prove extremely difficult as there will be no shortage of suitors for the midfielder’s signature should he become available. However, Conte’s arrival at Spurs certainly gives us a chance of snapping up the 24-year-old.
