Report: Contract update on Spurs-linked Insigne – Could sign free transfer in January

CalcioMercato have reported that there is still no contract renewal agreement between Napoli and Lorenzo Insigne, with no new contacts planned for the future.

Therefore, if all remains the same, Insigne would be able to hold transfer talks with foreign clubs in January ahead of a potential free move in the summer of 2022.

Tottenham currently have the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Bryan Gil and Heung-min Son on the wings, while Harry Kane remains the only striker option.

Insigne can play both roles and it was reported in the summer that Tottenham made a bid for the star who shone at Euro 2020 (AreaNapoli). However, Everton are also said to be interested in the forward.

The Italian now has 111 goals and 88 assists in 404 games for Napoli across all competitions, as well as 10 goals and nine assists in 49 matches for Italy.

If reports are true and Spurs did move for him in the summer, all eyes could be on whether Insigne puts pen to paper on a new deal or not.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Yes, Insigne is 30-years-old, but if Tottenham could scoop him up on a free transfer, that would be a major coup for Paratici and Levy. Definitely one to keep an eye on for the January transfer window if he does not sign a new deal by then.
