Report contradicts what Mourinho told the media about Spurs star

Danny Rose was once again absent from the Tottenham Hotspur squad for yesterday’s match against Watford.

The left-back was not included in Jose Mourinho’s match day squad and was not mentioned in Friday’s injury update which was released on the club website.

After the 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road, Mourinho was asked about the left-back’s future in North London and insisted he has a future at the club.

The Portuguese tried to justify Rose’s absence by claiming that the defender had suffered a slight back injury on Thursday (despite not being mentioned within Friday’s update) whilst also explaining that he was not selected against Middlesbrough as he wanted to give the opportunity to Ryan Sessegnon.

Mourino instead decided to play Japhet Tanganga on the left side of his defence yesterday’s match.

The Athletic have claimed that a well-placed source told them that Rose was fit to face Watford and is available for the club’s next training session in a complete contradiction of what Mourinho told the media.
