Report: Covid outbreak hits Spurs with a number of players and staff returning positive tests

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a Covid-19 outbreak in their ranks this week, according to Football.London.

The North Londoners have not commented on the situation and it is not the first time they have had to deal with covid matters when two players returned false-positive results ahead of the match at Newcastle United in October.

Tottenham are set to face Rennes in their final Europa Conference League group stage fixture on Thursday evening, with Antonio Conte’s plans said to have taken a hit with a number of players and coaching staff having returned positive tests for the virus.

Those affected by the outbreak have not been named by the club or the report. Emerson Royal and Bryan Gil were both missing from the win against Norwich City on Sunday with Football.London of the understanding the duo were sidelined through illness.

It is said that those who have returned a positive test did so using a lateral flow test and will undergo a PCR test tomorrow with the report suggesting that as things stand, Spurs are still able to fulfill the European tie later this week.

Firstly, we hope that those members of staff and players who may have returned positive tests are in relative good health given the circumstances.

The outbreak could not come at a worse time for the club who are about to embark on a hectic December fixture schedule.
