Report: Ronaldo recommends Spurs star to manager Pirlo – Mourinho would want £45m plus player

A report from Don Balon has claimed that Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has recommended that new Juventus manager Pirlo invest in a young central defender.

The report claims that, although Chiellini and Bonucci remain good defenders, they are both now beyond the 30-year mark, while De Ligt has found it hard to get going in Serie A.

Therefore, Ronaldo is said to have recommended Spurs star, Davinson Sanchez to the Juventus hierarchy, a player who cost the Lilywhites £42m back in 2017 (BBC).

It is said that Mourinho would be willing to sell the Colombian defender for £45m plus Juventus’ back-up centre-back, Daniele Rugani.

Despite joining three seasons ago, Sanchez was never quite able to displace either Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld to become one of the first-choice two under Pochettino.

Having said that, the Colombian has already played 117 times for Tottenham (Wikipedia), although must now compete with Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Juan Foyth, Ben Davies, and Japhet Tanganga.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be completely open to selling Sanchez as I do not believe that he has fulfilled the promise first seen in him back in 2017. While he remains a quality athlete with all of the necessary traits to become a world-class defender, he continues to make mistakes when given a run in the team. Having said that, I would either want a considerable sum close to £55m or Sanchez included in an ambitious swap deal for Paulo Dybala.
