Report: Crystal Palace agree deal to sign rumoured Spurs target

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace have agreed a deal with Queens Park Rangers to sign rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze.

The attacking midfielder was one of the standout players in the Championship last season, having scored 14 goals and provided eight assists (transfermarkt.com).

Back in March, Tottenham were reported to be the favourites to snap up the 22-year-old (Sun).

However, Sky Sports now reveal that Palace have won the race for the QPR star after seeing off competition from a handful of Premier League clubs.

It is claimed that the Eagles have agreed on a transfer fee for the attacking midfielder that could potentially rise to around £20m.

Eze is expected to finalise personal terms shortly and complete a medical at Selhurst Park this week.

The report suggests that Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle all made attempts to snap up Eze this summer, but Tottenham are not mentioned as one of the clubs who were interested in his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

It looks like Eze was an option we considered closely up until a few months ago but it appears that we decided against moving for him. The fact that none of the top Premier League sides were interested in the QPR star suggests that perhaps there were question marks over his ability to adjust to the top flight. Only time will tell if we made a blunder or whether it was the right call.
