Report: Crystal Palace beat Spurs in race to sign talented 18-year-old winger

Crystal Palace have beaten Tottenham in the race to sign talented Derby winger Malcolm Ebiowei, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old emerged as an exciting prospect during a difficult season for the Rams, which culminated in relegation to League One.

He was handed his senior debut by Wayne Rooney earlier this year and went on to make 16 appearances in the Championship, contributing to three goals (Transfermarkt).

The Sun reported that Ebiowei had caught Tottenham’s eye, as did his expiring contract which ends at the end of this month.

But Spurs will be forced to miss out on the teenager with the Daily Mail reporting that Palace are now set to complete a coup.

It is claimed that the Eagles have fended off interest from Spurs, Manchester United and Monaco and will look to wrap up a deal on Friday.

Ebiowei has emerged as a big talent recently and he managed to perform well in a struggling Derby side under Rooney. Palace have a knack for signing young players and developing them, so it looks to be a pretty good move for him.
