Report: Daniel Levy nearly pulled plug on Spurs transfer deal earlier this week

Tottenham Hotspur are being widely tipped to complete the transfer of Cristian Romero, with the defender set to fly to England to wrap up the deal (Sky Sports).

Italian news outlet Corriere di Bergamo have claimed that things could have been very different earlier this week when Spurs chairman Daniel Levy came close to withdrawing from negotiations.

It is reported that between Monday and Tuesday, Levy was left uncertain over whether to proceed with talks after there was a hitch.

Spurs still look set to be still on course to land the Argentine central defender for an initial £42.7m (€50m) fee, rising to £47m (€55m) plus bonuses.

Tottenham fans will certainly be thankful that Levy continued to press on with talks considering Romero is likely to significantly improve the defensive backline following his performances in Serie A last season.
