Report: Daniel Levy sets Conte a deadline for contract renewal talks

According to Tuttosport, Daniel Levy has set a deadline of January for Antonio Conte to begin talks with the club regarding a contract renewal.

Conte’s current deal at Spurs runs out at the end of the season but the North London club have the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months (Football.London).

Recently, reports from the Italian press have indicated that Juventus could look to replace Massimiliano Allegri with Conte at the end of the season.

Calciomercato reported a few days ago that the Tottenham head coach has pushed back talks over the renewal of his contract, partly because he wants to see if the Old Lady make an approach for him.

TuttoSport have now backed up that claim, stating that for the moment, Conte ‘continues to postpone’ any talks related to a new deal at Spurs.

However, it is asserted that Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy ‘will not wait for him forever’ and that the Spurs chairman has set the 53-year-old a deadline of January.

Perhaps Conte wants to see whether the team are able to continue their good start to the season and whether he will be backed again in the January transfer window. The Italian’s decision on whether to renew his deal, will likely also have a big bearing on Kane’s contract decision.
