Report: Daniel Levy still has ‘faith’ in Paratici despite him stepping down

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (01/04/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Fabio Paratici still has the support of senior figures at Tottenham, including Daniel Levy.

Last week, FIFA decided to extend Paratici’s Italian ban for alleged financial irregularities while at Juventus into a worldwide ban.

That left Tottenham little choice but to part ways with the 50-year-old, with the club confirming that he had taken an immediate leave of absence pending the outcome of his appeal.

Gazzetta now explain that Tottenham had initially planned on sticking by their managing director of football, which is why he gave an interview on the club’s channel about Conte’s departure just a day before the news emerged of his ban being extended.

The report stated that FIFA’s decision made a temporary separation between the two parties an ‘inevitable’ decision.

It is revealed that Paratici had been a key figure behind Tottenham’s recent decisions, with the former Juve man personally spearheading the club’s January business and having been tasked with hiring Antonio Conte’s replacement.

Gazzetta assert that Spurs are waiting for the verdict of the appeal on April 19 before finally making a decision on Paratici’s future.

It is said that the club ‘still believe in’ the Italian and the work he has done, with Levy continuing to show faith in him.

With the appeal set to be heard in less than three weeks, there is no reason for Spurs to make a decision on Paratici’s future before that time.

However, the club would have already started scouring the market for the Italian’s replacement just in case the appeal proves unsuccessful.
