Report: Danny Rose set to jet abroad to agree transfer and end Spurs misery

According to a report in Turkish publication Ajansspor, Trabzonspor are on the verge of completing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose.

Rose has not had any competitive first-team action since returning from his loan spell at Newcastle in the second half of last season, with the defender being left out of Tottenham’s Premier League and Europa League squad.

talkSPORT claimed earlier this month that Tottenham were willing to terminate the defender’s contract, which still has six months left to run.

It was initially suggested that a move to West Bromwich Albion could on the cards for the 30-year-old but reports from Turkey revealed last week that Trabzonspor had entered the race for the long-serving Spurs star.

Ajansspor now claims that Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with the England international, who is set to sign a three and a half year contract with the club.

The report suggests that Rose will arrive in Turkey this weekend to finalise his move.

If this report is true, then I am very surprised that Rose made the decision to go to Turkey. At 30 years of age, he could still potentially cut it at the top level for a couple of years. He has also previously talked about being homesick and wanting to move up north. The only reason I can see for the move would be if Trabzonspor offered the 30-year-old a better contract than any of his other suitors.
