Report: Darwin Nunez may prefer to join Spurs over Man Utd or Man City

According to The Sun, Benfica striker Darwin Nunez would prefer to join Tottenham Hotspur over Manchester City or Manchester United this summer.

Nunez has already found the back of the net on 31 occasions for Benfica so far this season (Transfermarkt) and the striker is showing no signs of slowing down.

It emerged last month that Jorge Mendes had approached the Uruguayan international about potentially replacing Harry Kane at Spurs this summer, with Mendes said to have a good relationship with both Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici (The Athletic).

The 22-year-old is also thought to be on the radars of Man Utd, Arsenal and West Ham (90min).

The Sun have now revealed that Nunez has specific preferences regarding his next destination, given his physical style of play and his desire for guaranteed minutes.

It is asserted that despite admiring Man City, the Uruguayan international does not see Pep Guardiola’s side as a good fit for him.

The report claims that Nunez also views a move to Old Trafford as a ‘risk’ due to the club’s current predicament and may prefer to join the likes of Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool instead.

If Nunez wants guaranteed minutes, then one would not expect him to be keen on joining Spurs if Kane stays.

So, I expect the Uruguayan to end up joining Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal if he is to come to the Premier League this summer.

I would not be surprised if Mikel Arteta’s side pushed hard for the 22-year-old given that they are desperately in need of a number nine.
