Report: Data analysts predict where Spurs will finish in the PL this season

Data Analysis firm, FiveThirtyEight, have run the numbers for the Premier League this season, predicting that Tottenham Hotspur will finish in sixth place.

Tottenham have failed to muster a top-four finish in either of their last two campaigns on the back of four consecutive Champions League qualifications under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Lilywhites certainly have their work cut out to get back into the top four this season after some of the big guns strengthened their squad considerably over the summer.

While Nuno Espirito Santo’s men currently sit eighth after seven games, just two points off top four, Spurs fans will be worried by the fact the team has blown hot and cold so far.

FiveThirtyEight have now crunched the numbers and predict that the Lilywhites will just about sneak into the top six this campaign.

The platform predicts Tottenham will earn 56 points, the club’s lowest Premier League points tally since the 2008/09 season.

They deduce, however, that the tally will be enough to take Nuno’s men to sixth, one place behind Everton and one ahead of their North London rivals, Arsenal.

They also give the Lilywhites just a 14 per cent chance of finishing in the top four this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think most Spurs fans will argue against these predictions. Comparing our squad to the likes of City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and United, a 14 per cent chance of finishing in the top four sounds about right.
