Report: Davinson Sanchez rejected chance to join PL club in the summer

Fanatik have claimed that Davinson Sanchez rejected approaches from several clubs, including Nottingham Forest, before eventually sealing a move to Galatasaray.

Sanchez joined Galatasaray in a deal worth €9.5m (£8.1m) a few days after the European transfer window closed since Turkish clubs were not allowed to sign players until the second week of September.

The centre-back has hit the ground running in Istanbul, having already emerged as one of the leaders of the club’s backline, with Okan Buruk’s men boasting of an impressive defensive record in the Turkish Super Lig this season.

In fact, Sporx even suggested two weeks ago that the former Spurs man was the best of the whole host of signings that came through the door at Galatasaray this summer.

Davinson Sanchez rejected Nottingham Forest

Fanatik have now claimed that Forest, Spartak Moscow and Rennes expressed an interest in signing Sanchez last summer.

However, the Colombian is thought to have had reservations about moving to Russia and later turned down the chance to join the Premier League and Ligue 1 side.

That eventually paved the way for the Turkish giants to secure the former Ajax man’s services after the European transfer window closed.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was a little surprised at Sanchez’s decision to move to Turkey but there is no doubt that Galatasaray are undertaking an ambitious project at the moment and their offer of Champions League football would have helped convince the Colombian. So far, it appears as if the 27-year-old’s decision was spot on.
