Report: Defender ‘100 per cent’ set on leaving Tottenham in January

Joe Rodon is looking to leave Tottenham in January with first-team opportunities continuing to come at a premium for the defender, according to Football Insider.

The Wales international has been overlooked in defence for the majority of this season thus far and has made just six appearances in all competitions.

Rodon has also played just 54 minutes under Antonio Conte, which came in the 2-1 defeat to NS Mura in the Europa Conference League.

Football Insider claim the 24-year-old continues to be frustrated with his current role at Spurs and is now ‘100 per cent’ set on securing a move away from the club in the winter.

It is claimed Rodon is looking to secure either a permanent or loan move to get back to playing regularly again as he does not see many further opportunities coming his way in North London.

Spurs boss Conte recently explained his reasons behind Rodon’s lack of playing time despite the injury to Cristian Romero, admitting the Welshman is currently serving as a back-up to Eric Dier in the pecking order.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez make up the rest of the three-man defence in the Argentina international’s absence.

Opportunities don’t seem to be coming any time soon for Rodon so it’s not a shock to see him looking to move on in January. However, Spurs are an injury or two away to some of their current backline from actually needing him, but it will be interesting to see how this one goes.
