The Mirror report that Ipswich Town are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate, Japhet Tanganga, just one week after he was released by the North London club (page 70).

The Tractor Boys are preparing for a 2024/25 season in the Premier League and want to bolster their squad ahead of what is sure to be an exciting campaign.

Japhet Tanganga is set to officially become a free agent on July 1, meaning there is unlikely to be any movement on a transfer to Ipswich or any other English club until then.

However, the Mirror claim that Ipswich Town are keeping a firm eye on the former Tottenham defender this summer after he impressed for Millwall last season in the Championship.

The report claims that Ipswich are not alone in their admiration of Tanganga, however, they do have an advantage over some of the other clubs in the race to sign him.

Millwall are said to be interested in making Tanganga’s six-month loan a permanent transfer once the window opens, following his impressive spell there. Luton Town are also keeping an eye on the former Spurs defender.

However, Ipswich Town have something the other two cannot offer – Premier League football.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tanganga’s primary objective this summer should be finding a club where he is sure to be a guaranteed starter week in, week out. He needs that level of consistency to stay fit.

This is a little biased, but I would prefer to see him join Ipswich so we can see him finally test his skills in the Premier League.
