Report: Defender gives update regarding future amidst rumoured Spurs interest

Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he is far from pleased with his current predicament at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham were linked with a deadline day move for Rudiger during the previous transfer window after their move for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar collapsed (Football Insider).

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has since revealed that Spurs made a loan offer which Chelsea accepted but the German was not keen on making a temporary move to North London since he felt it could be problematic for him to return to Chelsea afterwards.

Although Tottenham eventually snapped up Joe Rodon from Swansea City before the domestic transfer deadline, they could still be in the market for another centre-back next month, with Davinson Sanchez being tipped to leave the club (Fichajes).

Rudiger has only made one Premier League appearance for the Blues this season and reports indicate that Chelsea are ready to cash in on him in January (Transfer Window Podcast).

When asked about his situation at Chelsea, the 27-year-old has now told ZDF (as relayed by The Express): “I can’t be satisfied with my situation, but the fight has been accepted.

“What will happen in January is a long way off. I’m completely relaxed.”

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will try and make another move for Rudiger in January. The German could potentially be a cheaper alternative to Skriniar but it appears unlikely that Chelsea would be willing to sell him to a direct rival mid-season.
