Report: Defender linked with Spurs wants Premier League move

Tottenham have been linked with several right-backs over the past couple of months, with the links to Max Aarons (Soccer Link) and Thomas Meunier (ESPN) hotting up of late.

Another player who has been mentioned as a target for the North Londoners is Nelson Semedo. Reports in Spain now suggest that the Barcelona star is keen on moving to the Premier League this summer.

Tottenham are said to be long-term admirers of the 26-year-old and have been backed to make an offer for him once the market reopens (Don Balon).

Spanish journalist, Guillem Balague revealed a couple of weeks ago that Spurs have enquired about the Portuguese international’s availability to Barcelona, while Manchester City are also said to be keen on landing him (Sport).

Mundo Deportivo now report that Semedo would prefer a move to the Premier League over joining Serie A giants Juventus, which may be a boost to Tottenham’s chances of landing him.

However, they also reveal that Manchester City are his first preference, with a swap deal with Joao Cancelo being mooted as a possibility.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t believe Semedo would be much of an upgrade on Aurier. While Aarons would be my first choice, I would prefer both Meunier and Timothy Castagne over Semedo as the Barca star is just as prone to defensive mistakes as Aurier, if not more.
