Report: Defender set to undergo medical and train with new team-mates this morning

Danny Rose has travelled to Tyneside to undergo a medical at Newcastle United.

The Newcastle Chronicle report that the Tottenham Hotspur defender has made the journey north in preparation of discussing personal terms and completing the necessary medical tests.

Magpies boss Steve Bruce is keen to land the 29-year-old England international after both of his current left-backs, Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems suffered season-ending injuries.

Sky Sports add that Rose is expected to train with his new team-mates this morning ahead of potentially making his debut tomorrow for the visit of Norwich City to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon.

It is understood that the loan deal does not include an obligation or an option to make the switch permanent.

Rose was reported to have had a bust-up with head coach Jose Mourinho at the club’s training ground earlier this month when he was left out of the squad which faced Watford the day before (Daily Mail).

He has not featured in each of Tottenham’s last four matches and now looks to be set to finish the season in the north east.
