Report: Defender Spurs failed to sign could be set to join London rivals instead

Aksam have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur showed serious interest in Victor Nelsson last summer and revealed that the Galatasaray centre-back could now be bound for West Ham.

While Nelsson’s stock was quite high last summer after the Dane enjoyed an exceptional 2022-23 season, he has not hit the same heights this campaign, having temporarily been out of the side at the start of the campaign after Davinson Sanchez’s arrival from Spurs.

Tottenham secured the services of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg last summer before raiding Genoa for Radu Dragusin in January.

Aksam have now explained that before making those moves, the North London side had shown interest in Nelsson.

Spurs failed with a move for Victor Nelsson

The outlet says that the Lilywhites wanted the 25-year-old ‘intensely’ last summer and tried their best to swoop for him.

However, it is alleged that Daniel Levy ‘could not break the stubbornness’ of Galatasaray, who wanted €25m (£21.3m) for the Denmark international, which Tottenham found to be excessive.

It is explained that Nelsson ended up staying at Istanbul against his wishes but the publication adds that the centre-back could now be London-bound next summer as West Ham are keen on securing his services.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham might have shown some interest in Nelsson but it does not appear like they ever substantiated their interest in the Galatasaray star last summer.

It was quite clear that Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven were the two names at the top of their wishlist, with the club being priced out of a move for the former and ending up securing the latter.
