Report describes Spurs target as a cross between Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne

Rumoured Tottenham target Hugo Larsson has been getting plenty of plaudits in Germany, with the Bundesliga’s official website even comparing the midfielder with two Manchester City superstars, Rodri and Kevin de Bryune.

Larsson has been turning a lot of heads at Eintracht Frankfurt this season and despite being just 19 years of age, he is already seen by many as being quite a complete midfielder.

Tottenham’s interest in the teenager first came to light last week when Football Transfers suggested that the Lilywhites could step up efforts to sign the teenager, whom Ange Posteocglou is said to be a fan of.

This was backed up a couple of days ago by GiveMeSport, who claimed that the Spurs head coach has asked the club’s scouts to keep a close eye on the youngster.

The publication asserted that Postecoglou wants to add a press-resistant number six to his squad and believes that Larsson has the attributes to thrive in his system.

Tottenham are interested in Hugo Larsson

Spurs fans will be excited by the words used to describe the youngster on the Bundesliga’s official website, with the player said to possess the ability to break up play as well to play inch-perfect through balls.

The website says about the midfielder: “By trade, Larsson is most comfortable at the base of midfield, protecting his defence. As well as an expert breaker-up-of-play, Larsson also has the technical ability to break lines and thread killer-through balls.

“Larsson’s 6’1″ frame gives him great presence and his athleticism is eye-catching, underlined by his rapid turn of pace – a unique trait for a player often seen shielding those further back and one which suggests the 18-year-old could easily play as either a No.6 or No.8.

“There are shades of Spanish holding midfielder Rodri in Larsson’s game, while his close control and skilfulness also has notes of Rodri’s Manchester City teammate Kevin de Bruyne, who once starred for both Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg in Germany’s top tier. It’s a combination for Eintracht and Sweden fans to get excited about.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are unlikely to be the only Premier League club interested in Larsson but the club could perhaps make a persuasive case to the youngster that playing under Postecoglou at N17 would be ideal for his development.

The Lilywhites may be hoping that Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall can play a role in convincing their compatriot to make the switch to Hotspur Way.
