Report: Details emerge about Spurs’ desire to sign James Maddison no matter the manager

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is keen on signing Leicester City star James Maddison, no matter who the next manager at Spurs may be.

Maddison has been with Leicester since the summer of 2018, when he moved from Norwich City.

The creative midfielder has racked up 194 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 54 goals and registering 38 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-0ld is enjoying another fruitful campaign on an individual level, with nine goals and six assists in 21 appearances (Transfermarkt).

However, his club are struggling in 19th place in the Premier League table, and are now without a manager after sacking Brendan Rodgers on Sunday.

Maddison’s current contract expires next summer and there has long been speculation that he will move on in the near future.

According to 90 min, Leicester are hoping to get Maddison to sign a new deal amid interest from Tottenham and Newcastle.

However, more recently, The Athletic suggested Leicester are prepared to cash in on Maddison.

This will come as good news to Spurs chairman Levy, who is reportedly very keen to sign the England midfielder.

The Daily Mail claims Maddison is “a player Spurs wish to sign no matter who their next manager may be.”

It is thought Maddison’s “creative sense of adventure” could be a useful addition to Tottenham’s side next season.

After courting the player for a while now, it appears the “club hierarchy are ready to deliver” and bring Maddison to North London in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have to sign James Maddison at all costs in my opinion.

He is a fantastic player who would fit into our side so well, plus he’s a homegrown talent which would be good for our quota.

With Leicester struggling, there’s no doubt Maddison will want to move on, and if Levy is keen then we should be able to make this happen.
