Report: Details emerge as Conte is now expected back at Spurs on Tuesday

The Daily Mail have reported that Antonio Conte is now expected back at Tottenham on Tuesday, despite an expectation that he would have been sacked by now.

Tottenham last played over a week ago when they threw away a 3-1 lead against bottom-of-the-league Southampton to draw 3-3 in the final 15 minutes.

This prompted a tirade of criticism from Conte aimed at both his players, and seemingly Tottenham as a club too (Football London).

The Telegraph reported after the now-infamous press conference that Spurs were expected to part ways with the Italian that week, but Conte remains the Spurs boss eight days on.

Conte is now said to be facing a ‘crunch 24 hours’ as he returns from his break in Italy on Tuesday.

The Mail claim that things will become clearer once the Tottenham boss returns to Hotspur Way, although it appears to be unknown whether he will be retaining his position as head coach.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I am very surprised that Conte is returning as Spurs boss.

I thought he would be sacked while in Italy and maybe return briefly to collect his things from Hotspur Way.

I understand the idea of wanting to keep him if no one better is available, but surely the atmosphere has now become too toxic to do that.
