Report: Details emerge as James Maddison set to undergo Spurs injury scan

The Athletic report that Tottenham’s James Maddison is set to undergo a scan today to assess how bad the injury he picked up against Man United actually is.

Maddison played a starring role in Tottenham’s impressive 2-0 win at home to the Red Devils, and was a constant creative threat, particularly in the second half on Saturday.

However, the former Leicester City man was down for a prolonged period of time in the second 45 after a challenge from Lisandro Martinez in the Man United penalty area.

While the midfielder played on for the rest of the game, he was then seen leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches in a protective boot.

James Maddison may have suffered a foot injury

He explained to the press at the time that the boot and crutches were just a precaution, but it appears Spurs are worried enough about the injury to order a scan today.

The only information we have about the nature of the injury so far is that it is a foot problem.

Spurs Web Opinion:

While we do have Giovani Lo Celso ready to step into that creative midfield role, losing Maddison this early in the season when Spurs are trying to build momentum would be a disaster. Hopefully, it is just a knock and he is back within a couple of weeks.
