The Guardian have reported that Tottenham Hotspur have now offered Harry Kane a ‘huge new contract’ to try and keep him in North London for the foreseeable future.
It is said that Harry Kane wants to keep his options open and is in no rush to sign a new deal, but Daniel Levy is adamant the striker is not for sale and remains confident he will sign again.
Spurs are offering big money for Kane to stay
The new contract offer would reportedly see Kane significantly increase his current £200,000-per-week wages at Tottenham.
Despite this, Kane has no intention to sign anything straight away, especially when the transfer window is currently open and he only has one year left on his current deal.
The report confirms Bayern Munich’s intense interest in the Spurs number 10, but Levy maintains the striker is not for sale this summer.
The Spurs chairman is said to believe that Kane will realise he is better off staying at Spurs for the long-term future because of the attacking plans Ange Postecoglou has in place.
Spurs Web Opinion:
This is all Tottenham can do. Offer Kane big money, show him the project they have in mind, and take a gamble on him signing the new contract.
Of course, it is an £80m gamble, so time will tell whether this goes down as a Levy masterstroke or a financial blunder.
