Report: Discussions over rumoured Spurs target’s future ‘will intensify this week’

The Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a move for Sergio Reguilon after Jose Mourinho has decided that he wants to sign a left-back before the transfer window shuts.

Mourinho insisted in the pre-match conference ahead of his side’s opener against Everton that he was happy with his options at left-back (Football.London) but The Mail suggests that the Spurs boss has identified Reguilon has the man to bolster his options in the position.

It was previously claimed that the 23-year-old was likely to either complete a move to Manchester United or sign for Sevilla on another season-long loan deal (AS).

However, The Daily Mail now claim that Tottenham will push United for the Real Madrid defender’s services, with the Spanish giants reportedly willing to cash in on him for around £25million.

The report suggests that the price tag will not be a problem for either Spurs or United.

Sources close to the player are said to have admitted that two unnamed Premier League sides are leading the chase for Reguilon’s signature, with discussions over a potential transfer expected to intensify this week.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems as if this report is based on sources close to the Reguilon, which is why we should take it with a pinch of salt. A player’s entourage is always like to leak stories to the press in order to drum up interest in their client. Our likelihood of making an offer for the 23-year-old this transfer window depends on whether Mourinho believes Sessegnon is ready to play a significant number of matches this season.
