Report: Djed Spence due for Spurs medical after fee agreed with Middlesbrough

The Daily Mirror have revealed on their live transfer blog (on 1 July, 12:23) that Tottenham Hotspur have now reached an agreement with Middlesbrough for the transfer of Djed Spence.

Richarlison was announced as Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer this morning, following Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, and Yves Bissouma through the door.

Spence has the potential to be the next player arriving at Hotspur Way, with Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reporting on Thursday that Tottenham were in ‘advanced talks’ over the right-back and an agreement between the Premier League club and Boro was ‘getting closer’.

The Mirror have now revealed that Antonio Conte’s men have agreed on a fee of around £15-£16m with add-ons for the right-back’s transfer.

It is asserted that the England Under-21 international is now due at Spurs for a medical to seal his switch from the North East.

It seems like the Tottenham hierarchy waited until the start of pre-season to ensure they get the best price possible.

They have now seemingly acted swiftly to ensure that Conte gets his wish of completing the singings before the club’s pre-season tour to Asia.

One would expect the Clement Lenglet deal to also be wrapped up over the coming days.
