Report: Chelsea reject chance to sign former Tottenham playmaker this summer

Chelsea are reported to have rejected the opportunity to bring former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen to Stamford Bridge.

The Guardian claim that Inter Milan approached Chelsea with an interest in N’Golo Kanté and initally offered Marcelo Brozovic in exchange.

After being rebuffed in their approach, the Serie A giants decided to try their luck once more by offering Eriksen as part of the deal only to be told that Frank Lampard’s side have no interest in signing the Dane.

Chelsea have already spent heavily in adding extra options to the final third of the pitch having already spent big following the acquisitions of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech.

While Chelsea are said to be open to selling Kanté at the right price, the prospect of Eriksen playing for Tottenham’s rivals looks to be dead in the water.

The 27-year-old joined Inter during the last days of the January transfer window for a fee of around £16.9million after just having six months left to run on his contract in North London (BBC).
