Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund have both expressed an interest in signing rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Gerson, according to the latest reports from Brazil (FOX Sports).
Following the disappointing spell that the midfielder experienced at Roma and Fiorentina, Gerson has managed to rebuild his career at Flamengo, with his consistent performance in midfield being key to the club’s title triumph this season.
Tottenham were said to have made a bid of around £16million for the 23-year-old on the back of his impressive displays this season but it was claimed that the Brazilian giants turned the offer down.
He was reported to be keen on proving himself in Europe again following his less than successful stint in Italy.
However, Fox Sports Brazil have now revealed that Chelsea and Dortmund are also keen on signing the Flamengo star.
They reveal that the Brazilian champions wish to sell the midfielder to relieve themselves from the financial distress they are under due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They are said to be holding out for around €35million (£31million) to let Gerson leave.

Gerson is the kind of player we have missed in midfield since Mousa Dembele’s departure – a physically strong ball-winner, who can receive and turn with the ball in tight areas. However, signing him will come with an element of risk given the financial outlay involved. Coming from Brazilian football, he will also likely take a season to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.
