Report: Dutch club are investigating ‘possibilities’ to sign Spurs 22-year-old

According to Algemeen Dagblad (as relayed by FC Update), AZ Alkmaar have now started plotting ways to sign Troy Parrott from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Parrott has proven himself in the Eredivisie this season, having netted eight goals and provided four assists in 22 league appearances on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam (Transfermarkt).

Last month, various outlets reported that the 22-year-old is on the radars of several German, Dutch and Belgian sides (GiveMeSport).

One of those is thought to be Alkmaar, with Transferwatch.nl reporting a little over a week ago that the Eredivisie side are now eyeing a move for the Republic of Ireland international.

AZ Alkmarr are looking into Troy Parrott deal

Alkmaar’s interest in Parrott has now been backed by Algemeen Dagblad, who say that club are now investigating ‘possibilities’ of bringing the striker to the club.

The report says that AZ are resigned to losing their star man Vangelis Pavlidis this summer and want to replace him with the Spurs man.

However, they are thought to be aware that it would take ‘millions’ to sign Parrott and that Tottenham’s asking price could put the player beyond their reach.

It is asserted that AZ would also have to convince the youngster about moving to the AFAS Stadion as he is expected to seek a guarantee of regular game time.

While Parrott might not have given up hopes of impressing Postecoglou and forcing himself into the Australian’s plans at Tottenham, at 22 years of age, the striker might also feel that he needs continuity and regular game time. So an exit from Spurs looks very much on the cards for the Irishman this summer.
