Report: Dutch international misses match amid Spurs interest

Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attentions to landing PSV Eindhoven star Steven Bergwijn before the close of the transfer window, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Jose Mourinho is keen on adding some attacking flair to the squad and has identified Bergwijn as the man to improve the Spurs side.

The report suggests that the winger is due to miss PSV’s clash against FC Twente on the back of interest from Spurs.

The 22-year-old has gone on from strength to strength in the last couple of seasons for the Eindhoven-based club and has, in turn, played himself into the Dutch national side.

The forward who can play centrally as well as out wide has already notched up five goals and ten assists in the Eredivisie so far this campaign (transfermarkt).

It is suggested that the skilful Dutchman will cost Spurs a fee in the region of £21 million.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bergwijn has really come on leaps and bounds in the last year or so and at 22 years of age, he still has a lot of room to grow. While he is far from the finished product, I believe he will be a fabulous addition to the squad as we are lacking wingers who can take on defenders and go past them. Landing him for £21 million will be a fantastic coup for Tottenham and Mourinho.
