Report: England international set to undergo medical today ahead of Spurs exit

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Joe Hart is expected to undergo a medical with Celtic today ahead of a £1million move, according to the Daily Mail.

The 34-year-old was reportedly informed recently that he is not part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for the upcoming season and has dropped further down the pecking order following the arrival of Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal from Atalanta.

Hart has been missing from the squad of Tottenham’s last two pre-season friendlies, with academy graduate Alfie Whiteman instead entrusted between the sticks.

The report claims that talks have been ongoing over the course of the weekend and is set to sign a three-year contract after expressing his desire to play regular first-team football.

The former England international moved to North London last summer following the expiration of his contract with Burnley and was limited to ten appearances in all competitions for Spurs last season, in his role as understudy to Hugo Lloris (transfermarkt).

Celtic began their Scottish Premiership campaign on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat at Hearts.

Netting a £1m transfer fee and getting Hart’s salary off the wage books makes perfect sense if he has no future at the club. It is refreshing to see Paratici and co moving on the dead wood, which will hopefully free up finances for other transfer targets to continue the squad rebuild.
