Report: English club accept Tottenham bid for winger – Player must now decide

Tottenham have had a bid accepted by non-league side Lewes for winger Ollie Tanner, according to The Athletic (28/01/22, 10:58 am).

The 19-year-old, a former Arsenal and Charlton academy player, has heavily impressed for the Rooks in the Isthmian League Premier Division so far this term.

Tanner’s form attracted plenty of interest from a host of Premier League outfits including Southampton, Watford and Norwich (Football Insider), while Brighton saw an offer from Brighton turned down by Lewes (The Athletic).

But Tottenham have now taken a step forward in their aim to secure Tanner’s signature ahead of the transfer deadline, with The Athletic claiming Lewes have accepted a bid for the young forward.

It adds that Spurs made their move to bring Tanner to North London on Sunday, with the decision to make the switch to the capital up to the player himself.

Tanner has clearly impressed Spurs down the football pyramid and the fact they have beaten off so many other Premier League sides to the move has got to be a positive. While he won’t make an immediate impact in the first team, hopefully, that will come in time with a period in the reserve side.
