Report: English club lining up move to sign rumoured Spurs target on free transfer

Fulham have entered the race to sign Tottenham target Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer from AC Milan, according to TEAMtalk.

Romagnoli, 27, has been with the Rossoneri since 2015 but an exit is on the cards with his contract approaching its expiry at the end of the season (TransferMarkt).

Talks of a fresh deal are said to be on the table, but an agreement has yet to be reached with the value of his wages currently a sticking point (Milan News).

Romagnoli has also fallen down the pecking order under Stefano Pioli with minutes coming infrequently due to the availability of Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kaluliu and Matteo Gabbia.

And one of the sides interested in picking up the Italian on a free transfer this summer is Fulham, with TEAMtalk reporting Marco Silva’s side are already planning for next season in the Premier League.

The Championship high-flyers are said to be ‘laying the groundwork’ to pave the way for Romagnoli to arrive at Craven Cottage to shore up the defensive options at their disposal. Spurs have also been linked with the centre-back recently (Calciomercato.it).

Despite other options being preferred, Romagnoli has made 18 appearances for Milan, who currently lead the pack in Serie A (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Romagnoli would be a good fit for Conte so it wouldn’t be surprising if Spurs pushed to secure him on a free transfer this summer.

Milan seem pretty reluctant to offer him what he wants so, at present, it does look like he is heading towards being a free agent.

He will likely have plenty of interest from other sides, though, so it won’t be a straightforward one to complete.
