Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly working on establishing a relationship with Standard Liege as a feeder club, according to Belgian news outlet Walfoot.
ENIC are said to be in talks to take over the Belgian side who are currently in twelfth position in their domestic top flight after ten games.
The report claims that Liege chairman Bruno Venanzi is ready to sell his shares in the club and is suggested to have travelled to London last week to hold talks about the change of ownership, with ENIC labelled as front runners.
ENIC Sports and Development Holdings Limited own 85.55% of Tottenham, with chairman Daniel Levy and members of his family are potential beneficiaries of a discretionary trust which ultimately owns 29.4% of the share capital, while Joe Lewis has has an interest of 70.6%.
Super-agent Pini Zahavi is named as the person who is the man at the centre of the possible deal which would see players heading in both directions to make the most out of each club’s respective resources.
Let’s take a look at how some Spurs fans reacted on Twitter:
This wouldn’t be an insignificant buy. Liege one of the big 3 clubs in Belgium and pretty much best attendance with 25k average. Certainly not a tin pot feeder club.

Good news but with this and Levy joining the European board, Enic dont look to be leaving anytime soon

Counter argument to that is if they have the funds to invest in a football club they have the funds to invest in the team they profess to love abs want the best for. Not win win for the fans

Basically to have a loan out team and to get another academy.

Not necessarily if liege do well in European tournaments they’ll gain huge funds for both clubs. Amazing business by Enic imo.

SpursWeb Opinion
While ENIC are said to be looking at buying a Belgian club, Spurs fans have been witnessing Newcastle United having been taken over and are now a serious threat to taking their place within the ‘big six’ in future seasons.
