Report: Eric Dier development could provide cash boost for Tottenham Hotspur

90 min have claimed that Eric Dier is expected to remain at Bayern Munich beyond the end of the season, and according to what has previously been reported about the structure of the deal, that would increase the likelihood of Tottenham receiving a fee for the centre-back.

Dier’s nine-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham came to an end last week when the centre-back, who had just six months left on his deal in North London, sealed a switch to the Allianz Arena.

The 29-year-old joined Bayern on an initial loan deal, with Florian Plettenberg confirming last week that the Bundesliga champions have the option of a further year extension.

The journalist further explained that the German club will not pay any initial fee for the defender but would owe Spurs around €3m-€3.5m (£2.5m and £3m) if the England international makes a certain number of appearances for the club.

Eric Dier expected to stay with Bayern Munich

90 min have asserted that the expectation is that the centre-back will remain with Thomas Tuchel’s side beyond next summer.

If he does stay, that will increase the likelihood that he meets the appearance threshold for Spurs to receive the aforementioned fee.

90 min also add that there is an acceptance that Dier could be moved around from his preferred centre-back role, with his versatility being one of the key reasons why Tuchel wanted him at Bayern.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe that Dier could surprise people if he does get some opportunities this season. Tuchel’s system would suit the centre-back well and I would not be surprised if Bayern offered him a longer term contract at the end of the season.
