Report: Eric Dier, Son and Maddison helped Spurs signing settle at the club

The Athletic have now reported on Ashley Phillips’ first year at Tottenham, revealing that the centre-back is now thoroughly enjoying his football at Plymouth Argyle.

Phillips showed maturity beyond his years after breaking into Blackburn Rovers’ senior side last season and the teenager’s solid displays convinced Spurs to bring the youngster to Hotspur Way.

Although the 18-year-old did not get any game time during the first half of the season at Tottenham, The Athletic says that he has developed a good relationship with Ange Postecoglou.

Ashley Phillips had plenty of support at Spurs

The report reveals that the centre-back is quiet off the pitch and that the likes of Eric Dier, Son Heung-min and James Maddison went out of their way to make him feel welcome within the Tottenham first-team squad when he arrived at the club last summer.

Phillips has quickly established himself as a crucial part of Ian Foster’s backline since joining Plymouth on loan last month and The Athletic states that he has already become quite a popular figure among the Championship club’s supporters.

The publication adds that the on-loan Tottenham man is really enjoying working with Foster, with the Pilgrims boss often taking the youngster aside to point out areas where he can improve.
