Report: Eriksen considering Brentford contract extension despite Spurs interest

The Telegraph have revealed that Christian Eriksen is considering extending his stay at Brentford despite interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.

Eriksen has had a transformative effect on Brentford since arriving at the club and has been the catalyst behind the Bees’ impressive form over the last couple of months.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding what the 30-year-old will do when his six-month contract at the Brentford Community Stadium runs out in the summer.

Tottenham are alleged to be exploring the possibility of bringing Eriksen back to North London (90min) while the likes of Newcastle United (Northern Echo), Manchester United (Daily Star) and Leicester City (Fabrizio Romano) have also been credited with an interest.

The Telegraph have now claimed that Eriksen is considering extending his Brentford stay despite interest from both Tottenham and Leicester.

The report states that the Denmark international views a move to Spurs or the Foxes as a risk while staying at Brentford would guarantee him a regular place in the starting eleven.

The former Spurs man is said to have already looked at the affluent west London district of Chiswick, which is just a short journey away from Brentford’s home ground.

However, The Telegraph add that Eriksen is not expected to make a final decision on his future until the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if Eriksen decides to extend his stay at Brentford. He is unlikely to be a regular starter at Spurs as he does not fit naturally into Conte’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Unless Conte speaks to the Dane and convinces him that he plans to employ a 3-5-2 next season (which I think is unlikely), Eriksen will be wary of the idea of returning to Tottenham.
