Report: Eriksen update as Spurs prepare huge new contract for the Dane

Tottenham Hotspur fans may have been hoping for some exciting transfer sagas this summer, however, the main story out of North London has been about Christian Eriksen’s future.

Eriksen added fuel to the flames when he came out and told the Danish media that he was looking for a new challenge and a step up from Spurs next season (Ekstra Bladet).

This came as the Great Dane was heavily linked with Real Madrid, who are undergoing a rebuild under Zinedine Zidane after a disappointing season (Express).

However, reports now suggest that Real Madrid are no longer interested in the attacking midfielder, and are instead exploring different avenues such as Man United’s Paul Pogba (Marca).

Eriksen did concede in his interview with the Danish press that if no offers from big clubs came in, then he would be open to signing a new Tottenham contract (Ekstra Bladet).

The latest report states that Spurs are now readying a whopping £200,000 a week deal that would see Eriksen receive payment parity with Harry Kane at the top of the Tottenham tree (Football London).

Spurs Web Opinion:

I honestly do not mind if Eriksen stays or goes, but I want it all sorted as soon as possible. At the moment, Spurs are stuck in a limbo, not knowing if they need to invest in a new playmaker of not. I want to see Spurs’ transfer business done early in order to bed the new stars in.
