Report: Eriksen’s Real Madrid dream suffers a crushing blow

Christian Eriksen took the majority of Tottenham Hotspur fans by surprise with his comments that he wanted to leave the club and seek a fresh challenge just days after the heartbreaking Champions League final defeat to Liverpool (Ekstra Bladet).

According to Marca, the Dane has now seen his hopes of a move to Real Madrid suffer a substantial blow after falling further down Zinedine Zidane’s shopping list.

Instead, they are said to prefer a move for Ajax’s Donny van de Beek after it was claimed that Eriksen ‘lacks the punch’ that Zidane is looking for.

Eriksen only has twelve months left to run on his existing deal in North London which puts the club in the position of either selling him this summer or risk losing him on a free at the end of next season.

Zidane is said to be keen to bring Manchester United’s Paul Pogba to the Bernabeu and Eriksen is no longer second choice
