Report: Eriksen’s Spurs exit could depend on situation in Spain

According to a report the print edition of Italian paper Tuttosport (12/1/20) (as translated and relayed by Sport Witness), Inter Milan chief Giuseppe Marotta will accelerate efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen if the club are unable to land Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Eriksen’s contract with Spurs expires out at the end of the current campaign and the midfielder has been linked heavily with a move to Inter Milan this month (La Gazzetta dello Sport).

The Danish international started the match against Liverpool on Saturday but once again performed way below the expectations of the North London faithful

Sky Italia reported on Saturday that Inter are keen on signing Vidal from Barcelona but that the deal depends on Ernesto Valverde’s managerial future at the Catalan giants.

Valverde reportedly wants to sell Vidal but the Chilean will end up staying if the Barcelona manager is sacked.

It is suggested that Inter will make a decision on whether on not to pursue a deal for Eriksen this month once they have more clarity on Vidal’s future.

Even if we do not sign a direct replacement for Eriksen this window, it would still be in the club’s best interest to sell him now instead of allowing him to leave for free in the summer. He has hardly contributed anything so far this season and so wouldn’t be a big miss for Spurs at all.
